Our love of the natural world and textiles will also bring eco-printing and natural dyeing to The Continuum Thread.

Eco-printing is an art form that brings the unique and varied beauty of Nature into a creative process. It entails gathering suitable leaves, bark, flowers, and even food such as onion skins, and placing them on fabric. The fabric is then rolled into a bundle around a tube, pipe, or dowel, tied, and placed in either water or steam.

Science, Art, Nature, and the Mystery then get to do a little alchemical dance together. When it is time to open the bundle and see the results, there is surprise and delight in how the prints and color turn out.

From time to time, we will be offering opportunities to explore this and other unique and rewarding art forms that bring the beautiful patterns of Nature home with you.
